Port Orange Elementary School Reviews

Port Orange Elementary is run like a precision swiss clock thanks to Principal Ronca. There will be a new principal this year, so it remains to be seen what happens. Lots of parental involvement means great events like fall dances and sock hops. Teachers are wonderful and run so many extracurricular activities like after school knitting, garden club, track, and math to name just a few. The gifted program is really excellent and challenges students. Pick-up is run smoothly and is organized so well. Children are treated like individuals and are cared for like their own. It's just wonderful! As an educator, I can recommend this school. Everyone from the custodians to the lunch ladies to the principal are wonderful, especially the teachers!

Very nice,, small school. This school has excellent teachers and staff with a small school atmosphere. Gifted program is good. Reccommended.

My kids attended S. Daytona for a few years before we switched to Port Orange Elem. this year and there is a noticeable difference. This school offered a smaller classroom size, fewer classes per grade (so all the kids in the same grade get to know each other better)and a closer knit family environment. Parents feel welcome as much as the kids. There is a stronger PTA support, which provided more FREE/reduced cost activities for the kids; these are events that we have paid additional for, at the other school. Academics are strong, and additional help was more easily attained, when needed at this school. Pricipal is active, visible and is readily available to students and parents. Because of the small school size he seems to know ALL of his students and genuinely cares about them.

This is a small school that has a great 'family' environment. Low teacher turnover. Excellent gifted program. I'm impressed with the parental involvement.
