Atlantic High School Reviews

My child has attended Atlantic High School for each of his 4 years. The staff has been nothing short of impressive. My son has participated in multiple sports and activities in which the Teachers have been supportive and the leadership there under Mr. Pagano has always been superb.

I love Atlantic High School! When my daughter 1st entered the school I didn't want her to attend the school, I was very unsure about the blocking program. After a few weeks of her attendance, she had blossomed. She couldn't wait to go to school and for her this was a major difference. She was on honor roll 3 out of the 4 semesters, something that had never happened to her before. She had teachers that took the time to make sure that she understood the math and never let her leave until she knew it. This is something that never happened even after years of paying tutors, she understood math and began to love it!! I also would like to say how much as a parent it means to see the principals standing out front welcoming the students as they approach the school.

Atlantic High School has been a nightmare! My son will not be returning to Atlantic High School. They've done enough damage.

I moved to Florida in 1997 from West Virginia and attended AHS. What a culture shock! The student diversity is great, but as with any 2000+ student high school, there are plenty of rotten apples. Atlantic offers a ton of extracurricular activities and venues for student exploration, but they don't advertise them as they should (for shy students like I was to get the nerve to join new clubs and events). Overall safety is good. They routinely bring bomb- and drug- sniffing dogs, keep suspicious activity in check, and have strictly upheld policies. I suggest AHS to anyone who wants a wide variety of opportunities to pursue. Parent involvement was minimal when I was there; it may have changed. Class of 2000!

we have a senior this year and a sophomore...atlantic has been a fabulous place..we have found the teachers extremely willing to communicate and help us...(.let's face it; if the child isn't completely willing to make his/her high school experience positive and obey the rules) it'll be difficult...as far as being prepared for college I feel completely confident..we were constantly urged to pursue harder and harder classes for that reason...this is an excellent school with great leadership and very, very innovative teachers.

Atlantic High School is a unique educational experience. Atlantic provides students a high quality education as well as excellent extracurricular activies. As a graduate of Atlantic, I strongly disagree with the critic who stated their family members were not ready for college. In my college experience thus far, I have found that the excellent teachers at Atlantic prepared me very well for college years. Atlantic also offers students a unique opportunity with the Academy of Law & Government as well as a new academy opening this year related to the field of education. Atlantic also has an outstanding principal, guidance department, and activities director. Go Sharks!

Atlantic is a great school, there is a variety of educational programs and awesome teachers. The students are very open-minded and the teachers are too. The academic are vary wildly. There are programs for everyone from AP and DE classes to Honors classes and regular classes that are less challenging. Extracurricular activities are in abundance at Atlantic. Kids are encuraged to join many different activities/sports/ and clubs. Parents are very involved, but it tends to be the same parents that are always involved. All in all Atlantic is a great school and anyone should be happy to send their student there.

Atlantic High School has beautiful intentions yet they do not take there time to abide by them. Insted they focus on nessecity and punishment more than anything. Teachers would consistantly nagg about technology rather than worry about the important things like the education. My kids and there friends also have issues with dress code. All clubs are great they just need a more up to date band director and they could recruite more members its only twenty band members including auxilary!!! Kids dont really have a say unless they have a 2.0 meaning to me that if you are stupid you dont have anything to say. Yes, students should maintain an sertian GPA but they should also be able to voicethere opinion. Thank you and God bless you!

I am a soon to be a parent of a student attending Atlantic and I would like to say, in response to one critique, that I have a niece who graduted Suma Cum Laude and is attending Stetson University. She is a straight 'A' student and was well prepared for college. So in response, I think that the kids that weren't ready for college in that critique, did not put enough time and effort into their studies in high School.

Atlantic High School is in many ways a wonderfull school although after graduating 2 nieces, 1 nephew, 2 sons with 2 more attending now, it is lacking in its class curriculum. We have found that the four block schedule is hurting our kids. They are all A students and do not come out ready to face college level studies. They all have had trouble in the first year of college. We also don't understand the constant change of head coaches in all the s sports. 5 football, 3 basketball, 3 wrestling, 4 baseball and so on what is with the administrtion, why they can't keep coaches?
